Restful Tones Product Information
Restful Tones mjp3's are a progressive form of music therapy specifically designed to be restful, calming, and soothing.
We have designed our mp3's with brainwave entrainment frequencies know as binaural beats, monaural beats, and isochronic tones.
When brainwave entrainment frequencies are combined with a wide-variety of nature sounds, ambient sounds, or relaxation music, the end result is nothing short of stunning.
We have produced remarkably potent and powerful mp3's for effectively calming the mind, soothing the emotions, and relaxing the body.
For individuals in pursuit of any type of self-development and self-improvement, brainwave entrainment offers virtually unprecedented benefits.
Brainwave entrainment is highly effective and easily fits into your daily routine.
Brainwave entrainment is the result of comprehensive and lengthy scientific research, which resulted in some remarkable discoveries.
Brainwave entrainment uses these carefully applied sounds known as binaural beats, monaural beats and isochronic tones.
These "rhythmic stimuli" can literally alter brainwave frequencies to produce a variety of extremely powerful effects.
To understand how brainwave entrainment music can alter your brainwaves it will be helpful to have a basic understanding of brainwaves.
Brainwaves are produced by electrical impulses in the brain.
The 4 most common brainwaves are beta (13 hz - 30 hz), alpha (8 hz - 12 hz), theta (4 hz - 8 hz), and delta (0.5 hz - 4 hz).
Although all 4 brainwaves are active in the brain at all times, one of these patterns is usually dominant depending on whether you are busy, emotional, relaxing, sleeping etc.
Your dominant brainwave pattern is responsible for your state of awareness at any given moment.
There are also a few other braonwave states: Lambda, Gamma, Epsilon.
Gamma and HyperGamma brainwaves (30 hz - 100 hz) are usually very weak in the average person. However recent studies show that gamma brainwaves have been found to be very strong in Tibetan monks while doing a Loving Kindness meditation.
Lambda brainwaves (100 hz - 200 hz) are very high brainwave frequencies associated with wholeness, integration and mystical experiences. Furthermore, lambda brainwaves have been found to ride on epsilon brainwaves in the range of 0.5 hz or lower. (Recently the brainwaves below 0.5hz have been classified as a separate band called Epsilon.)
This Epsilon state of consciousness (the state Yogi's go into when they achieve "suspended animation") is where western medical doctors can perceive no heart beat, respiration or pulse. HyperGamma and Lambda states of consciousness are the states associated with the ability of certain sects of Tibetan monks who can mediate in the Himalayan mountains in sub-zero temperatures with scanty clothing and melt the snow all around them. High frequency brainwave states are experienced as a result of spiritual awakening, and during deep meditation areas of the brain that are normally dormant become active. (For further reading see Epsilon, Gamma, HyperGamma, Lambda Brainwave Activity).
Following are examples of brainwave activity:
- Throughout the day when you are busy, anxious, high strung, and unable to relax beta is the dominant brainwave activity at that time.
- When you finally begin to relax and/or when you take a quick "power nap" your dominant brainwave activity moves to alpha.
- When you are sleeping and dreaming theta brainwaves are dominant.
- During deep, rejuvenating, dreamless sleep delta brainwaves are the dominant brainwave. (See Brainwave Classification Chart).
Music that incorporates binaural beats, monaural beats or isochronic tones can potentially assist listeners achieve a wide variety of goals, such as more effective meditation, improved sleep, heightened creativity, superior focus and a variety of other improved states of mind.
Training The Mind With Brainwave Entrainment Frequencies
Training the mind with brainwave entrainment frequencies is like training the muscles.
Repetition is important - a little every day, or every other day, (but don't overdo it) and you begin to experience results.
For this reason all our mp3's range from 20 minutes to an hour in length.
Repetition in listening to brainwave sessions supports bringing the body, mind, and soul into a meditative state, where healing occurs. Brainwave entrainment, or BWE, was first used in the late 1800s. It is now experiencing a renaissance among neurologists and mental health professionals, driven in part by recent research findings.
In a recent issue of the journal Alternative Therapies, Dr. Tina L. Huang and Dr. Christine Charyton concluded: "Findings to date suggest that brainwave entrainment is an effective therapeutic tool. People suffering from cognitive functioning deficits, stress, pain, headache/migraines, PMS, and behavioral problems benefited from brainwave entrainment." ('A Comprehensive View of the Psychological Effects of Brainwave Entrainment', Alternative Therapies, September/October 2008) Scientific studies have concluded some remarkable facts about brainwave entrainment. In short, brainwaves, through brainwave entrainment technology, can be employed to literally change a person's mental state. That's right; brainwave entrainment technology can change your state of mind!
Through using Restful Tones mp3's, your brainwaves can be stimulated to specific brainwave levels; results will be heightened with the use of headphones.
Our incorporation of brainwave entrainment will create brainwave levels that are conducive to giving you improved energy and focus, creativity, relaxation, deep inner peace, calmness, reduction in overall stress levels and even heightened intelligence, improved memory and mental clarity.
Our mp3's are designed to produce the same physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual benefits that are experienced during regular meditation practice.
Using Binaural Beats and Isochronic Tones For Altering Brainwave Activity
Binaural Beats are the most recognized form of brainwave entrainment. With binaural beats a slightly different tone is presented into each ear. The tones then combine in the brain to form a pulse or "beat". The pulse heard by the listener is actually the difference between the two tones. For example, if the left ear is given a tone at 200 hertz and the right ear is given a tone of 210 hertz, then the listener will hear a beat of 10 hertz. And the brain will entrain to that rhythm. (10 hz is a brainwave frequency at the alpha level). By listening to a brainwave entrainment mp3 embedded with binaural beats designed with a 10 hz frequency relaxation will follow as your brain becomes "entrained" by the repititious rhythm of the binaural beats.
While binaural beats are by far the most used form of brainwave entrainment, other more modern methods are quickly gaining popularity. The most promising of the new methods is Isochronic tones. Isochronic tones are a somewhat less well known form of entrainment; however, they have proven to be much more effective. Isochronic entrainment uses a single tone that is manually spaced, turning on and off in a precise pattern. This actually enhances the effectiveness of audio entrainment.
Side note:
The human ear aided by a good set of stereo headphones (or by a good speaker system), can hear frequencies as low as 16 hz. A 30 hz tone, for example, can be heard easily with stereo headphones (with the volume turned up), and also by a good speaker system (a 30 hz tone sounds like very deep bass). But what happens when the ears can't hear lower frequencies within the 0.1 hz - 15 hz range? This is unfortunate because it just so happens that there are several interesting states of consciousness associated with the frequencies between 0.1 hz and 15 hz. This is where brainwave entrainment with binaural beats and isochronic tones comes in. Binaural beats and isochronic tones trick the nervous system into perceiving lower frequencies. For example, when you listen to a 200 hz tone in one ear, and a 210 hz tone in the other ear, the human nervous system will try to resolve the input from both ears and manufacture a "phantom" 10 Hz tone. This is the actual binaural beat. Isochronic tones work a little differently. Isochronic tones can be programmed to turn on and off in a precise pattern whether at 0.5 hz, 1 hz, 2 hz.....7 hz....10 hz, 15 hz etc.
End of side note.
